01. Ask Your Wedding Vendors

Your wedding vendors have been to a lot more weddings than you have, for most of them weddings are their whole life. Don’t be afraid to ask them for their advice and suggestions. Your venue coordinator probably knows the best caterers, and your photographer might know a great florist in the area. Your wedding vendors are a wonderful resource that you absolutely need to use. Speaking as a wedding vendor, we are happy to help!

02. Research Marriage Licenses in Your State

The laws, guidelines, and timelines are different in every state. Make sure you research this before it gets too close to your wedding day. Getting a marriage license can take anywhere from 2 days to 3 months. This might be the most important tip because it’s what will make your marriage official.

03. Don’t Let Other People’s Opinions Overshadow Your Own

This is YOUR day! It should only consist of the things that you and your favorite person want. People are going to have opinions on your dress, flowers, decor, and even guest list, don’t listen to them! Make sure you stick with your vision and don’t let anyone make you stray from it.

04. Delegate

There is a lot of simple but important task that you can assign to bridesmaids and groomsmen, in-laws, and whoever else is helping out. Things in the planning process like addressing all the save-the-dates or picking up the groomsmen suits. Or things the day of like moving your exit car to the right place with your luggage and change of clothes inside, making sure all vendors get their meals and payments and putting up any signage. I know it can be a bit unnerving to trust these important tasks to someone else, but in the long run, it will help reduce your stress and help you focus on what really matters.

05. Have fun!

You are only engaged for a short amount of time, make the most of it! Turn to making diy decor into a girl’s night with your bridesmaids, make a date day out of looking at venues, and take the most beautiful engagement photos with your wedding photographer. Try your best to enjoy every moment of this really exciting time in your life.

I hope these 5 tips for planning your wedding helped ease your mind in this exciting and stressful time. If you’re looking to check “book photographer” off your to-do list, click here, and let’s chat! For some wedding inspiration, click here
